What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?

That’s easy – food, particularly Cantonese cuisine. They grew up in Hong Kong and they learned to cook and make traditional Cantonese food like Won Tons, Congee, 3-dish dinners – a meat dish, a fish dish and a veg dish – served with rice, and lobster with spring onions, ginger and egg noodles (that’s more my dad’s signature dish), and of course oven-cooked BBQ pork. They would be perfectly happy eating Cantonese food pretty much every day, except maybe when they crave Pizza or a Hamburger, which happens about once a week.

I like having and cooking Cantonese food too. I need more variety though and can’t see myself cooking as much as they do in the kitchen. I shouldn’t eat out as much though – that’s something I’m working on by learning how to cook from mum. I will probably save more cooking videos on YouTube to learn how to make Italian and French style meals. Then again, maybe I’ll just save and watch them like I’m doing now, enjoying them while I have my food!
